Frequently asked questions
Straight answers for Ghana SMS on taysend.com — accounts, TEST vs LIVE, prepaid GHS, sender IDs, and delivery reports. Pricing folklore stays off this page.
The product
What is Taysend?
Taysend is a Ghana-first SMS gateway at taysend.com. You send OTP, transactional, and campaign traffic through one API and console. We reserve prepaid GHS, route the message, and keep the delivery report on the message id.
Which country do you cover first?
Ghana. Destinations are classified by prefix for MTN, Telecel, and AT. Other countries are only available after we provision the route. We do not advertise global coverage we have not built.
Is Taysend a mobile network?
No. We are an application-to-person (A2P) gateway. Traffic is handed to licensed wholesale partners. Your customers still receive the SMS from their network.
Accounts and access
How do I create an account?
Register at taysend.com/register with a working email. You get a console login, a prepaid GHS wallet, and TEST keys. LIVE sending needs a verified email and an approved sender ID.
What is the difference between TEST and LIVE?
sms_test_ keys cannot send live traffic. They use simulated Ghana numbers with known outcomes so you can prove compose → reserve → route → inspect. LIVE keys send to real handsets and spend wallet balance.
I forgot my password.
Use Forgot password on the login page. We email a reset link to the address on the account. The link expires. If mail is delayed, check spam or write to bds.inc0101@gmail.com.
Sending and delivery
What does HTTP 200 or “accepted” mean?
The gateway accepted the request and queued or submitted it. That is not delivery. Delivery is a later DLR state such as DELIVERED, FAILED, EXPIRED, or REJECTED. Inspect GET /v1/messages/:id.
How do I send an OTP?
POST /v1/messages with type otp (or use the console). Include an Idempotency-Key. Use an approved sender ID on LIVE. TEST destinations such as +233200000001 have documented outcomes in the docs.
What is a sender ID?
The name or number that appears as the sender. Ghana LIVE sender IDs must be requested and approved. They must also be approved with the wholesale route. Unapproved LIVE senders are rejected.
Why did my message stay SUBMITTED?
The provider accepted it and we are waiting for a delivery report. Networks can delay DLRs. Timeout is not a safe retry. Open the message id before you send again.
Do you guarantee inbox placement?
No. We route and record the DLR. Handset delivery depends on the destination network, the sender ID, content filters, and the handset. We do not invent a delivery percentage on the marketing site.
Billing
How am I billed?
Prepaid GHS. We reserve the estimated cost, send, then settle against billed SMS units. Encoding and segments are computed from the body. UCS-2 / Unicode uses more units than GSM-7.
Is there a monthly subscription?
No. Starter is pay-as-you-go per billed unit. Growth and Enterprise are written commercial terms, not a fake yearly toggle.
Where do I see the live Ghana rate?
On /pricing. Ghana is GHS 0.04 per billed SMS unit, listed as message counts and GHC totals. Unicode or long messages use more units. A written contract can replace that rate.
What if the wallet is too low?
Send is rejected with INSUFFICIENT_BALANCE. We do not silently queue unfunded traffic.
Can I get a volume discount?
Only if it is written into a contract. Ask bds.inc0101@gmail.com. Published FAQ text does not create a discount.
Which currency do you use?
Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) by default, Africa/Accra time. Invoices and wallet ledgers use GHS unless a contract says otherwise.
Developers
Where are the API docs?
Start at /developers and /developers/quickstart. Auth, send, DLR, webhooks, and errors each have their own page.
Are webhooks signed?
Yes. Customer callbacks use a t=,v1= signature. Verify before you credit a user or mark an OTP used. Replay the same Idempotency-Key + body to get the original result.
What TEST numbers can I use?
See Developers → TEST destinations. Examples: +233200000001 delivers, +233200000002 fails. They never leave the simulated provider.
